SINGAPORE — On August 6, 2025, Uwing International School hosted its “Uwing Run for SG60” themed sports gala. Initiated by the Student Services Department and organized by the Student Council, the event brought together over 100 participants, including students, faculty, and parent representatives, to celebrate the spirit of community and athletic excellence.
Dynamic Competition: A Scene of Vitality
The sports gala kicked off with an “Opening Unity Run,” led by a professional coach to warm up the participants. The competition was divided into three categories: Primary, Secondary, and a joint Faculty-Parent group. Events ranged from 50-meter and 100-meter sprints to 4×50-meter and 4×100-meter relays, complemented by various fun-filled activities.
The sports field was transformed into a sea of joy. Students waved vibrant Singapore national flags as they cheered for the competitors, with shouts of encouragement, cheers, and applause blending into a lively symphony of school spirit.
Integrating Sports into Holistic Education
At Uwing International School, cultivating a lifelong passion for sports is considered a vital component of holistic education. The speed and passion displayed on the field, combined with the encouragement shared from the sidelines, served as a testament to the strong bond and synergy between students, teachers, and parents. This event was more than just an athletic competition; it was a vivid “extra-curricular” lesson that encouraged participants to achieve health through movement, feel the warmth of collaboration, and learn the value of perseverance through challenge.
Home-School Partnership: Growing Together
Uwing International School has always placed great importance on the connection between home and school. Close cooperation between parents and the school not only creates a powerful educational synergy but also builds a stable and supportive network for children as they grow. The Student Services Department utilized this event to create a platform for communication and interaction, allowing parents to gain a deeper insight into their children’s campus life. The active involvement of parents added warmth and significance to the day, as their presence and encouragement not only fueled the students’ athletic enthusiasm but also strengthened parent-child relationships.
Recognizing Excellence
To conclude the event, the school presented gold, silver, and bronze awards to outstanding classes and individuals, honoring their competitive spirit and collaborative efforts. Additionally, the school presented commemorative souvenirs to the participating parents, expressing gratitude for their ongoing support.
Uwing International School remains committed to its philosophy of holistic education. Moving forward, the school will continue to organize diverse extra-curricular activities, creating more opportunities for students to learn and grow beyond the classroom. These initiatives aim to help students better integrate into Singaporean society and move forward with confidence in a multicultural environment.
